Nuts for Sale! Then their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: take some of the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry them down as a present to the man - a little balm and a little honey, gum, resin, pistachio nuts and almonds.” Genesis 43:11
We have received our annual shipments of nuts and they are on sale now! We sell fresh, premium quality nuts from suppliers in California and Illinois. The proceeds from the nut sales will go to our United Methodist Women's Unit to support missions for women and children locally and around the world. New this year: Blueberry-walnut-granola, Cherry-pecan granola, and a Medley of Pecans,
Cashews, Pistachios and dried Cranberries and Cherries. We are not set up for internet orders, however, please feel free to bring the form below to the church office to buy your nuts. For a PDF copy of this form, please click here.

This week's recipe:
I made this coffee cake for our Easter breakfast. It was quite well received. It's very moist, and easy to make!
![]() Walnut Cinnamon Coffee Cake 350° - 20 minutes
325
° - 35 to 40 minutes
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 yellow cake mix
1 package instant vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz.)
1 package instant butterscotch* pudding mix (3.4 oz.)
4 eggs
1 cup water
1 cup vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9"x13" baking pan or a 10" Bundt cake pan
In a medium bowl, stir together the brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts.
In another bowl (can use an electric mixer), stir together the cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, and the butterscotch* pudding mix. Add the eggs, oil and water, mix until well blended. Pour half of the batter into the pan, spread evenly. Sprinkle with half of the nut mixture. Cover with the rest of the batter, and sprinkle with the rest of the nut mixture.
Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, then turn the oven down to 325 ° and bake for an additional 35 to 40 minutes.
* I used 2 vanilla pudding mixes. I couldn't find butterscotch in an instant pudding and had read that it could be substituted. I was very good with the 2 vanillas. You might also try another flavor, such as chocolate.
A small handful of pistachios daily may help prevent your arteries from clogging, keep your
blood vessels clean, your heart healthy and strong. The mighty little pistachio nut contains phytosterols - a substance that blocks your body from absorbing cholesterol. |
