Spiritual Gifts Workshops

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;  I Corinthians 12:4

Next Workshop:

June 13 @ 4:00 pm
Topic: Servanthood

Greetings,

I'm no different now than when I was a kid. I loved to open presents and I can’t stand to have an unopened present in front of me.  So my friends liked to give me presents at school in front of kids and tell me I couldn’t open them until the last day of school before Christmas break! I found that taking the spiritual gifts class was just as exciting for me.  I was opening a gift from God.

We have scheduled two class times to explore God’s gifts to us and answering the following two questions:

  • What are your spiritual gifts, leadership/interaction style, spirituality and task types that God has given you?
  • As we identify our spiritual gifts then we can begin to answer the question “What kind of congregation are we (nurturing, witnessing, outreach, organizing)?”
Too often we focus on what we are not doing either personally or as a church when God wants us to operate out of our gifts (strengths).

Come explore what your gifts are.  The class will be held at the church on:

Blessings,

Monica

What are your spiritual gifts, leadership/interaction style, spirituality and task types that God has given you?

  • Spiritual Gifts:  Are you gifted in service, faith, shepherding, or any of the other 17 gifts mentioned by Paul?
  • Leadership/Interaction Style: Are you a detail person, a global thinker, a questioner, or a people person?
  • Spirituality Type: Do you practice head, heart, pilgrim, mystic, servant, crusader spirituality?
  • Task Type: Do you like to do projects from start to finish, like to plan for a ministry, do hands-on work but not the planning, or do you like to perform tasks where there is a sense of community?

As we identify our spiritual gifts then we can begin to answer the question “What kind of congregation are we?”
  • Nurturing: Nurturing congregations tend to be very committed to building fellowship, visitation, small groups,
  • Sunday school, and member care.  The focus is primarily turned inward.
  • Outreach: Outreaching congregations tend to be very missional in nature, serving the community in a variety of ways, and reaching out to people in the area.  The focus is on the world.
  • Witnessing:  Witnessing congregations tend to emphasize worship, Christian Education, and church growth.  Faith sharing is central to the life of the fellowship.  Focus is local
  • Organizing:  Organizing congregations tend to be highly structured, very organized, and program rich.  Committees and work teams involve large numbers.  Focus is on the institution.
