About Us"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can!" John Wesley, founder of Methodism We have nearly 200 members, with an average attendance of about 90. Our worship is mainly traditional, using written liturgy and traditional hymns, but we do blend in some contemporary worship styles, including the occasional use of dance, drama, and songs in a more popular style. Piano and electronic keyboard are our principle accompanying instruments, but we also have a pipe organ which has been recently repaired and we will use it. We also occasionally use guitar and band and orchestral instruments. Our congregation is one of the oldest ones in Klamath Falls. Our current building was originally built in the late 1920’s, and is the third building we have used. We have weekly Sunday School for all ages at 9:15 a.m. Our Sunday School program includes classes for preschool, elementary, 'tweens, and adults. See the separate pages in this website for more information. For adults there is an ecumenical lectionary study group that meets on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. This group includes pastors from other congregations who are studying the assigned scripture lessons for each Sunday of the year. There is also a weekly lectionary study on Fridays at noon, and participants bring a sack lunch to eat during the study. Do call ahead, as the studies are occasionally canceled, due to schedule conflicts. Nursery care is available during Sunday School and worship hours and special services as needed. Pagers are available for parents with children in the nursery. We have ministries supporting women and children through United Methodist Women. Men have a monthly supper gathering for fellowship. Our youth have their own Sunday School class during the school year and special activities occasionally. They plan and present at least one worship service each year. Our music program includes a chancel choir for youth and adults that sings every Sunday during the school year and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. A bell choir performs on a nearly monthly basis, rehearsing from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. We have an active ministry of prayer, including a phone prayer chain, an email prayer chain, and a separate prayer partners program in which participants receive monthly mailings for inspiration and prayer requests for our committees, general ministries, and pastor. A weekly list of prayer concerns listed during worship is available to those who wish to have it. A year-round camp program with a variety of activities and spiritual growth opportunities for all ages is offered by our Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference at several Conference-owned campsites across Oregon and Idaho. For information contact our church office or visit our Conference’s camping website at www.gocamping.org. Camp scholarships are available both locally and through the Conference camping program. Our ministries include offering emergency food assistance and financial assistance, supplementing assistance offered by public agencies. We support the work of Habitat for Humanity, Klamath Gospel Mission, Women’s Crisis Service, Integral Youth Services, and the Klamath Lake Food Bank. We offer an After School Mentoring Program for children of Fairview Elementary School on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, and adult assistance is always needed and welcome. We provide two worship services a month on Sunday afternoons at Marquis Care Center at Plum Ridge. We are hosting a weekly free dinner offered to the community on Tuesday evenings from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and help with these meals is most welcome. The United Methodist Church is a global church that includes nearly 8 million members in the United States and 4 million members around the world. We place an emphasis upon God’s grace offered us in Jesus Christ. Grace is the free gift of salvation and the fruit it produces in our lives and the world. We believe in the importance of growth in personal piety (spiritual holiness and perfection in love of God and fellow humans) while expressing our faith in service, witness and social action. We believe that our faith is meaningless if we don’t act on it and apply the tenets of our faith to the issues of the day.
